Are you a writer aged 16 or over who has an original, un heard voice? Do you write predominantly in a language other than English? Do you have ambitions to perform or share your work but feel excluded from doing so by a language barrier? Would you like to connect with the Birmingham Book Festival’s writing community and Sampad? Are you unpublished?

The Birmingham Book Festival and sampad are looking for writers who struggle to connect with writing communities and audiences because of a barrier of language, who would like the opportunity to join in an event in October and perform, or have performed, some of their poetry or prose, in their first language and in English, with the help of a translator where necessary. You must be available on 7th October 2008 and able to travel to Birmingham with ease.

If this sounds like you, email a short statement about yourself and no more than 1,000 words of your work to sara@birminghambookfestival.org by 31st May 2008.
